Ways to Advertise for Free with Effort
In addition to the traditional (old!) methods of advertising, such as wedding directories and social media, there are a few other ways to consider promoting your wedding videography business.
One option is to submit real wedding films and photography to leading wedding blogs. While it can be tough to get featured on these types of sites, it can be a great boost for your SEO and website rankings if you have filmed and/or photographed a unique or quirky wedding. Just be prepared for rejection, as these sites can be very selective.
Another way we have promoted our business is by engaging with wedding forums and Facebook groups. By offering genuinely useful advice to couples and other vendors, you can make valuable connections and even pick up some work. Just be authentic and avoid pretending to be a bride promoting your own services. When we have had time to do this (usually in January!) we have built some useful links and even taken a booking.
I have mainly used Facebook groups to find other videographers to help me on a job or to pass over leads for weddings when I am already booked.
In Part 2 I mentioned that we focus on creating useful content, this can include creating blog posts, videos, or other types of content that showcases our work and provide value to couples planning their weddings. We then keep a spreadsheet of all the useful content and the links, this way when a question pops up on a forum that we can answer we can post a link to a useful video or article. By consistently creating and sharing high-quality content, you can attract potential clients and improve your SEO.
